How Invisalign Works
Invisalign will work for most people unless they have significant bite or jaw issues. If you are a good candidate for Invisalign clear braces, getting started is easy.
Our team will take impressions of the teeth and bite to assist Dr. Leif Gambee with treatment planning. X-rays and photos will also help you achieve the best results. Once our team gathers the necessary information, we will send it off securely to our Invisalign lab to create your series of aligner trays.
What Are Attachments?
Attachments are tiny, tooth-colored buttons that Dr. Gambee bonds to the teeth to assist with movement. The attachments are temporary, and we will remove them at the completion of treatment.
How to Wear Invisalign
Once we receive your aligners, we will check the fit to ensure that they are smooth and comfortable. Following the recommended guidelines will help your treatment stay on track.
- Wear aligners for at least 22 hours per day
- Clean your teeth after you eat
- Rinse aligners regularly to remove food and bacteria
- Clean your aligners thoroughly twice daily
- Keep your aligners away from your pets – they love to chew them
- Avoid getting aligners hot or leaving them in hot vehicles
- Graduate to the next set of aligners every two weeks
We will also arrange regular checkup appointments to monitor your progress, answer questions, and celebrate your milestones.
Invisalign Retainers
You will need to wear retainers at the end of your treatment to prevent orthodontic relapse where your teeth drift back toward their original location.
Usually, you will wear them for 24-hours a day at first; then once your bone adjusts to the new position of your teeth, you can wear them at nighttime only.
